Cruisin'!

On June 11th, my class, (we're graduating from our school) got to go on a cruise from the pier around the coastal area. All the girls got dressed up (dresses, hair done, new shoes, etc.) while the guys dressed normally (jeans, button downs, skater shoes, the occasional blazer). I had a few friends over before to get ready, and it was really fun!!! We went to school and hung out in the gym for a while as the teachers/chaperones/bus drivers got organized, then we got on buses by last name (luckily I was with my best friend, but the ride was still awful and too long.) We had to wait in line to get on the boat, then we finally got on!! We ate pizza and danced on the DJ floor, sang karaoke on the floor below, and also could go on the bow and on the top floor to talk and sit around. We have a band at our school, so they played (one guy surfed the crowd!) Everyone was pretty much on the dancing floor, jumping up and down and screaming and yelling the lyrics. It got pretty cold outside so EVERYONE was inside (I'm talking 350 people.) The windows were all steamed up because everyone was sweating from dancing. It was SOOOOO much fun getting all dressed up and stuff.

We're moving on! :'-) (that means happy crying)

Long Time, No Blog!

Wow. WOW! I am so sorry I haven't posted for more than a month! A lot has been going on for me, in school and outside of school.

In English right now we're doing Romeo and Juliet. We're actually acting it out, we had a masked ball and everything. I am the Nurse in Act I and II, and Juliet in Act III. We're on Act II right now, so I'm still the Nurse. One of the teachers is making Romeo and Juliet actually kiss in the acting! Luckily I'm not in that class.

Volleyball just ended today! We just had this fabulous three-day tournamnet at the local university. The weather wasn't great; cloudy, rainy and all. But the last day was great; sunny and lukewarm. My team did alright, and it was bittersweet to say goodbye to all my friends on the last day.

Many more posts to come...............lots of stuff happening in these last few weeks of school!!!

Biggest Science Project of the Year (plus a bunch of other stuff)

Okay, so yesterday, the biggest science project of the year started. It's called SLUDGE. My partner and I are given a mixture of substances, and we have to use all the labs we've used over the year to separate them and identify the substances. So far, by partner Abby and I know that we have sulfur, magnesium ribbon, glass, and isoproponol. On Thursday we will distill the liquids to separate them, and after that, not sure where we're going. Oh well. We got our Sludge yesterday and it was dark pink. The people at the table across from us have a LOT of sulfur, and their Sludge smells TERRIBLE. Seriously. I have to breathe through my mouth for the whole class period. Oh well.

Also, last Thursday, my Literature Circle group (we read The Chosen by Chaim Potok) gave our presentation. We had to pretend to sell our book to a movie company to make it into a movie. We got an A, and the rest of the class also voted for ours as the best presentation! It was AMAZING.

Varsity Volleyball: UNDEFEATED!!!! We are all really happy because we are 2-0 in the preseason, and 2-0 in regular season. We are pretty much amazing.

Well, I think that's all for now.

That's all, folks!

Bye!

Best Day EVERR!!!!!!!!!

Today was the best day EVER!!!!!!!! Because:

  • I got 68/70 on my presentation on Mexico and LA/SS
  • I got 98/100 on my Arts Alive binder in LA/SS
  • I got 98/100 on my Formal Lab Report in Science
  • I got a "You're amazing" compliment on my volleyball skills from an awesome (yet slightly intimidating) PE teacher, who's compliments are rare.
  • Did super well at varsity tryouts for school.
  • SCHOOL YEAR IS HALF OVER!!!!!!!!!!!! BOO YA!!

New Country Unit

Yesterday (the first day back at school), we started studying Mexico. We got 2 maps, one to label cities and neighboring countries, and one to color the map blue, green, and brown, according to the elevation. We did a few Venn Diagrams about the differences between Mexico and the United States, and went on a website to research gestures, greetings, holidays, food, recreational activities, etc. We've only been at it for 2 days, but we've already learned a lot. We used to be studying China, and it took about a month, so I'm assuming that's about the amount of time this will take.

This had better be better than Animal Farm...................

Job Shadow Today!!

Earlier today I went to a local artisan cheese-maker for a school project. It was for a job shadow project, where you shadow someone that has a job you might be interested in persuing. I helped the head lady have a cheese-making class. We made Mozzerella and a cheese called Tomme. Both were amazing. I learned a lot, and I had so much fun!! My legs hurt terribly afterward, though because we were standing for 4 hours on concrete, and I was incredibly thirsty. But other than that, it was amazing!!!

School, School, and More School

I am really sorry that I haven't posted for a long long time. I've had lots of homework, and volleyball and soccer, so I've been pretty busy with non-blogging things.

So I finally got my cast off my wrist! The doctor looked at the CT Scan and didn't see any fracture at all; healing or otherwise, so if there was never a fracture, I would be really mad. Oh well, I'm healed now, and I can play goalie!

It's been really yucky weather lately. At soccer practice on Monday, I had to wear gloves, pants, an ear warmer, and a sweatshirt. I ended up taking off the sweatshirt and the ear warmer though, because I was getting hot after running around for a while. Then almost everyone had to leave early, so our coach took us to Starbucks and got us all hot chocolate. It was pretty much the best practice ever!!

Well.....that's pretty much all for now, bye!!!

More Homework than I Expected

So this year I have a whole lot more homework than I expected. Mostly in LA/SS, but we have a lot of Science, and I have Geometry every night as well. Oh well. Helps me learn time management!! I also have a bit of French, but almost no Band, 'cept for practicing trombone.

Oh, there's this Make-A-Wish fundraiser at Cold Stone today, and Mom's letting me go BEFORE dinner!! (I thought only grandmas did that!) Yipee!!! I had Cold Stone last month for my friend's birthday, too. We also have been getting these little one-serving ice cream containers that are really cute. I get Ben & Jerry's usually (Cherry Garcia is my favorite) and Mom gets Starbucks Java Chip. It is sooooooo good.

:-P

Bad Weather, Good Things Ahead

For the last three days, it has been not summer weather AT ALL. It has been rainy, cloudy, and cool. It's almost like fall!!

Oh, well. I have many great things to look forward to!! I'm going camping with Hannah on Friday, and that will be AMAZING. I am really excited!! Then after that I have..........well.....nothing of much interest. Just school supply shopping (boo hoo! Summer's almost over!), hanging out, and stuff. Oh, and my birthday! I almost forgot!!! How could I?!? I'm not sure what I'm doing, but I'll concot something to do with all my bffls.

California: Day 8: Final Day

Still in San Juan Capistrano....

Woke up and had really good waffles for breakfast with whipped cream and berries. We went in the pool for a little, and put this bright green zinc oxide on my face to prevent sunburn, and look awesome all at the same time!!! After that we left and drove to LA to see the place where my dad grew up. He grew up in Westchester. We saw the house he grew up in, his old high school, junior high, and elementary school, we saw this place called "Randy's Donuts" with this huge donut on top of the building, and we found out that the gas station he used to work at was turned into a Morman church. We went to this AMAZING burger place called "The Shack." There was this one burger called "The Shack Burger" that's a burger with a sausage on top!! (Okay, that's a little overkill.) We also drove by the mountain with the Hollywood sign on it!! You know, this one:I didn't get a picture because it was really hazy, but I saw it!!! I also saw the Warner Bros. water tower and the buildings with all the promotional posters on the sides.

Then we drove to Burbank and saw my great-aunt and uncle. We talked for a while, then drove to the airport, turned in our rental car, and got on a plane, and now we're home!!!!

Study-udy-udy

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have finals this week, and I've been studying SO MUCH. I spent like 4 hours last night doing review packets for Health, Math, and Science. And then French, but Mrs. Williams won't let us take the packet home. LA/SS doesn't have a final, thank Gosh. I have French and Math tomorrow, French, Math, and Health on Friday, and Science on Tuesday. But it's nice to know that after these finals, SCHOOL IS (pretty much) OVER!!! well, we still have to get up and go, but there's NO WORK!!! The last week is pretty much pointless excpet for Tuesday, the Science final.

On Monday, Honors Society members get to go to Wild Waves!!! It's gonna be SO MUCH FUN! Hopefully it'll be sunny, because I got some great perscription sunglasses today that I want to test out. And I want to wear one of my new swimsuits before July.

On Tuesday, there's the Science Final, then chillin' in all the other classes

On Wednesday, we get our YEARBOOKS!! We go around to all the classes and sign.

Thursday is FUN DAY! We have a few periods in the morning, then go outside on the football field and sign yearbooks and eat barbecue. Last year there were blow-up toys. This year, there will be a cotton candy machine, a DJ, and a face painter!

FRIDAY IS THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!!!!! YAY!

What Happened to our Weather?

You know how I have been raving about the really great weather for a while? (Or at least in a few posts.) Well, today was rainy and yucky, and just overall a BLEAH day. Partly because of the weather, and partly because we did some depressing stuff in school today. In LA/SS, we did the Cold War and how everyone was stockpiling nukes. That wasn't really depressing, so to speak, but still...BAD. Then in Science we watched this video called "Asteroids: Deadly Impact" which was about geologists who study asteroids. We found out about this asteroid that crashed into Jupiter in 1994. If a meteroite ever hit Earth, it would feel like we were in an oven set to Broil, then the sky would turn BLACK. Then we would all be wiped off the face of the Earth, just like the dinosaurs! FUN! Then in Health, we learned about drugs and alcohol and how people with way too much time on their hands make PCP to look like Flinstones Vitamins. And then we learned about how alcohol affects the brain, and the fact that a lot of people die from overdoses, and that drinking too much alcohol can turn your eyes yellow and other HAPPY stuff like that.

NOW GO HOME AND THIK HAPPY THOUGHTS BECAUSE I HAVE OVERWHELMED YOU WITH DEPRESSING-NESS.

Bye!

28 Days of School Left! I cannot believe there is less than a month left! I am like FREAKING OUT, but when it gets to June, I'll be REALLY FREAKING OUT! EEEP I AM SO EXCITED THAT IT IS ALMOST SUMMER! It was even a little summery today; it's supposed to be 68 degrees today. It's getting there...

May: A Big Month Ahead

May is going to be a very good month for me. Here's why:

  • I said "Rabbit" this morning
  • A volleyball tournament tomorrow and Sunday
  • My aunt's birthday on the 3rd
  • Cinco de Mayo
  • Hannah's (from Chicken News) birthday on the 6th
  • The last dance of the year on the 8th
  • Mother's Day on the 10th (oops...gotta conference with Dad about that one...)
  • My cousin Jamie's birthday on the 20th
  • NO SCHOOL on May 22nd: LEAP Day
  • A VERY AWESOME low-key volleyball tournament over Memorial Day (okay, so it's not low-key, but it doesn't really count for anything except a pat-yourself-on-the-back-if-you-win.)
  • I get to mark down the days until school gets out. On the last day of May, there will be 15 days of school left!! EEK!!!!

Oh My Golly Good Gosh!!

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT IS ALREADY MAY 1ST. ONLY 33 DAYS OF SCHOOL LEFT!!!!! OMG!!! Today it was a whopping 69 degrees Farenheit and I wore shorts and flip-flops to school. I cannot see a single cloud in the sky and I didn't even BRING a sweatshirt to school. Though, granted, it was very chilly at tennis this morning, outside, but I was very happy in the long run that I wore shorts. It's almost like summer and it is getting very close!!!

ONLY 33 DAYS LEFT OF SCHOOL!!!! :-)

Although Hannah and Maki (Gervisians) would laugh at this list, but for me...it's a lot of homework!!

  • WWII Project (3D model, 4-6 minute speech, and formal outline) (due Thursday)

  • Propoganda Poster (due next Tuesday)

  • Hiroshima Collage (due Friday)

  • Homework Quiz in Math (Thursday)

  • Say it with Symbols (Friday)

  • Health Packet and Quiz (Addiction) (either Wednesday of Friday)

Yeah, that's only 6 things, but STILL.

I spent 1/6 of my weekend...

DOING MY WORLD WAR II PROJECT. I have to build a 3-D model on Night of Broken Glass. It wouldn't have taken that long, but my mom and I made the windows of the cardboard buildings out of sugar so that they would dry clear and look like glass, but we messed up like twice. We had two buildings done, then my mom said that I could do the last one by myself. The first attempt, I was watching baseball and wasn't paying attention, and it turned into caramel. It still dried clear, but it was BROWN! (I crushed up the result and put it on ice cream later, and it was very tasty!) Then the second attempt, I forgot to at corn syrup, and the whole thing crystallized into this big solid white glob that looked a bit like a sponge. We threw that one away. Then, the third time, my mom did it and it turned out perfectly! I guess I just need a little more experience with sugar...

I spent 8 HOURS of my weekend working on it. I AM STILL NOT DONE!!! I have sacrificed one tri-fold poster board, three shoe boxes, a bunch of paper, 5 1/4 cups of sugar, 1 3/4 cups water, a bunch of black paint, some red paint, some toothpicks, some skewers, and some orange, red, and yellow crepe paper. I'll include some pictures when it is completely finished.

Back to School *sigh*

Today was the first day of school since break ended. We didn't do much. In Health Mr. O just kind of let us go while we studied for the quarter final on Wednesday. In French, Mrs. W just did some boring stuff out of the book. In Homeroom, Mr. S circled us up and we talked about break. In Science, we had a sub, (no Ms.O! *sniff*) so we just went over answers from some previous journal stuff. In Math, Mrs. S talked to us about scatter plots, and we did a little homework. In LA/USH, Mr. G showed us the rest of the To Kill A Mockingbird movie, then we had work time. Thank goodness we weren't loud; we would have had to start like 19 slides of notes on World War II. And NO ONE wanted to do that. But we didn't. Luckily.
