I Thought it was Spring!!

Wow. Woowwwwww. Is this what you call spring?!?!? On Thursday it was hailing the size of marbles. Luckily tennis was cancelled that day (by the way, I made varsity tennis!!) and all we had was a meeting about captains and the schedule and stuff. Hannah and Lilia and I were waiting outside, watching it snow/hail, and when mom picked me up, we had to shout to hear each other over the hail. Then, whaddyaknow, we come home and it's sunny. We have had such bipolar weather lately. Wow, just..............wow.

Cold. Cold. Did I mention Cold?

Yesterday my bus was late by 20 minutes because a headlight broke. So for half an hour, my fellow bus-stop-mates and I waited in the 29 degree weather at 7:00 in the morning. Everything had that white look to it, because of the frost on the roofs, grass, and trees, white sky, and the white fog from everyone's breath. Most of the guys were wearing basketball shorts. There were a couple girls smart enough to wear gloves and ear warmers. I wasn't one of them. My ears hurt SO bad, and it took about half an hour to get the feeling back in my face. It felt SO good to get back on the warm bus, and my face had that tingly feeling, you know that one you get after you come in from playing in the snow? Winter's here! 22 days until Christmas!!!!

The Greatest Soccer Game Ever

Okay, so yesterday morning, I had a soccer game against our rival team, the Cheetahs. All the girls on that team go to the same school as everyone on my team, so we've been rivals pretty much forever. My team has become convinced that it is their goal in life to beat us, since they have never managed it before. We tied 3-3 last time we played them, but that is the closest they've come. Okay. Now for the play-by-play........

1st HALF
So I get to the field half an hour early to pouring rain and wind. The field is pretty much a huge mud puddle, but soccer doesn't stop for a little rain. The rest of my team got there, and we started warming up. I had to take off my sport goggles because they were getting so fogged up with rain that I could see better without them than with them. Then one of the girls who brought an eye-black pen, writes stuff on our faces like "Destroy" and "Attack" and "Charge" and stuff, along with various nicknames. The game starts. They get a few shots on goal, but I'm the goalie, and nothing gets past me!! Then, one of the defenders has a hand ball, in the goalie box, and that results in a penalty kick. That means that the person kicking the ball has just the goalie to deal with, which means that if you have a good hard kick, it's pretty much a guaranteed goal. Or is it? Because I SAVED THE PK. The girl shot a few feet to my left, and I dived and I blocked it with my hand. Everyone on my team was cheering; it was the best feeling ever. I punted the ball out of the box, and was bored for a while while the ball was on the other end of the field. Then they come sprinting down the field with the ball, and they swerve around our defenders and shoot. They score. But I do have to say it was a really good kick, above my head and to the left. The rest of my team says it's okay, it's only the first half and it's only one goal, we can come back easily. Then half-time comes along with no more goals scored.

2nd HALF
I usually come out of goal in the second half to play some defense, but the other two girls who sub in for me were away playing basketball, so I had to stay in, which was completely fine by me. I didn't trust any of the other girls in my territory with a strong team like that. We play for a while, a few shots on goal, nothing really happens, a foul or two, then WE SCORE. It was the most beautiful kick I've ever seen. It was really high and looping over the goalie's head and into the goal. Everyone on our team started cheering because now we were tied! There were about 20 or so minutes left in the game. The ball was on their end of the field, which means I got to sit around in the goal picking grass and twiddling my thumbs while the defenders tried to clear it. Then suddenly I hear cheers. We had scored again!! It wasn't really intentional, a girl from the other team (so I hear) tried to clear it, and it ricocheted off one of our girls shin guards and into the goal! So we were ahead 2-1! Now there were 9 minutes left. They had a corner kick and a few shots on goal, but nothing happened. Now the ball was on their end, and we manuevered it around for a while until the ref blew his whistle. The game was over! WE WON!

POST GAME
We shook hands with the other team. There were no bad sports, because off the soccer field, we're all like best friends. We shook hands with the ref, then a few parents made a tunnel and we ran through it. We had a little meeting commemerating how awesome we were, said hi to a few people on the other team, then we all went into this huge puddle of rain water and did a Slip N' Slide into it. Then, after that, we were dripping wet and cold, but we were so happy, and we did a little dance to "Single Ladies" by Beyonce. Then I went home, and took a nice hot shower to get all the dirt and grass and sweat off of me because I was diving so much in goal. It was pretty much the best soccer game ever.

School, School, and More School

I am really sorry that I haven't posted for a long long time. I've had lots of homework, and volleyball and soccer, so I've been pretty busy with non-blogging things.

So I finally got my cast off my wrist! The doctor looked at the CT Scan and didn't see any fracture at all; healing or otherwise, so if there was never a fracture, I would be really mad. Oh well, I'm healed now, and I can play goalie!

It's been really yucky weather lately. At soccer practice on Monday, I had to wear gloves, pants, an ear warmer, and a sweatshirt. I ended up taking off the sweatshirt and the ear warmer though, because I was getting hot after running around for a while. Then almost everyone had to leave early, so our coach took us to Starbucks and got us all hot chocolate. It was pretty much the best practice ever!!

Well.....that's pretty much all for now, bye!!!

Bad Weather, Good Things Ahead

For the last three days, it has been not summer weather AT ALL. It has been rainy, cloudy, and cool. It's almost like fall!!

Oh, well. I have many great things to look forward to!! I'm going camping with Hannah on Friday, and that will be AMAZING. I am really excited!! Then after that I have..........well.....nothing of much interest. Just school supply shopping (boo hoo! Summer's almost over!), hanging out, and stuff. Oh, and my birthday! I almost forgot!!! How could I?!? I'm not sure what I'm doing, but I'll concot something to do with all my bffls.

Well, must go now. Bye!!

I'm BAAAAAAAACK!!!!

Hola peoples!!!

I just got back a few hours ago from Idaho, where I stayed in a cabin for a week at a lake. It was a blast. I waterskied, tubed, layed in the sun, played card games, played in the water, read 2 great books, ate great food, shot hoops, went on boat rides, kayaked, took midnight plunges into the water with my awesome cousin Jamie, and-

STOP

There is not enough space or time to describe all the amazing things I did with my amazing cousins. Oh well. Maybe I will put on some pictures later but unfortunately I do not have my camera with me at this time.

My hair is kinda bleached out and I am tan (but not sunburnt! YAY that's a first) but I contracted the common cold while there. Which sucks. Oh well. I also got very dry skin on my face which hurt very badly. I figured out on the 4th day that Lubriderm had minimal effect. Instead, I coated my face in Vaseline 100% petroleum jelly, and that worked wonders.

Adios for now!!!!!

Beach Visit

Yesterday was just HOT. So we went to our friends' house on the local lake. We went down to the dock, set up towels and lawn chairs, and had a lot of fun. The water was SO warm!! But there was quite a lot of seaweed. The younger boy, Jack, and I had biggest/smallest splash contests, diving contests, and had fun impersonating people while jumping in. Some of the people we impersonated were Rachael Ray, the Kool-Aid man, Disney princesses, the Chairman (from Iron Chef America), Michael Jackson, Billie Mays, and others!! We were entertained for about an hour doing that. They also have a slide that goes into the water. The goal was to get down to the bottom of the slide without slipping or going into the water. It took me 6 tries. We took a break and ate animal crackers and Cheez-Its. We fed Cheez-Its to their dog, Woody, and made him do tricks and stuff. Then their friend showed up and threw us footballs as we jumped in. I was pretty good, I have to admit. I got slightly sunburned on my face and shoulders, but it doesn't hurt at all.

California: Day 2

Still in Santa Barbara.......

9:50: I am woken up by my mom. Wow I slept in!!!
10:30: We go to my grandma's place to go take her to the dentist. She can walk really well now, and doesn't stumble at the curbs.
10:55: Get to the dentist, then when Grandma goes in, we head downtown and walk around a bit. All the newspapers were headlining "King of Pop is dead at 50" We went into a bunch of stores (I had fun fooling around with the iPhones in the Apple store) then we went back to the dentist to get Grandma
11:48: We take Grandma out to lunch at the Mesa Cafe. I get a really good cheeseburger. ALL of the TV's are programmed to the Michael Jackson news, all the radios are blaring "Thriller." Mom and Dad were kind of miffed because Farah Fawcett died too, and she got, like, and inch-long article at the very bottom of the newspaper.
12:40: We take Grandma back to her place and say good-bye, then drive back to my aunt's house
1:20: We get home and lay out in the sun for a while again. I shot some hoops again. I wasn't much better than I was yesterday. I braided a few lanyards, drank a soda, just relaxed, or tried to because it was very hot. My back stuck to the lawn chair.
4:00: Leave and go to UCSB (where my dad went) to go to the Santa Barbara Foresters game. It's like a bunch of college guys who play in a summer league. They were playing the San Luis Obispo Rattlers. It was pretty fun. I got a really long hot dog and an ice cream sandwich. The announcer guy said that if a player hits a foul ball, you can collect it and take it to the announcing place, and you get a free Cold Stone gift card. My cousin Joe got one!! Anyway, when we left the game in the top of the 8th, it was 11-0 Foresters. Afterwards, we went to Cold Stone (I got Cheesecake w/ brownie) then we went home.
7:13: We get home and watch my mom, dad, aunt, and uncle eat Mexican food. I played some Wii Play for a while, then went back into the kitchen and found my grandma's old jewelry boxes out again. My dad gave my this really pretty green brooch, and this litte metal purse thingy that holds a tissue, 15 cents, and a mirror. It belonged to my great-grandma.
9:00: Go to bed!!

Happy Father's Day!!

Wow, today has been CRAZY!!!! We had waffles for breakfast (with whipped cream), then we went to a minor-league baseball game (the weather was WEIRD. It started out HOT and sunny, then it got cloudy, then it started raining with THUNDER and LIGHTNING.) We came home and watched the US Open (boring), then we went to Whole Foods and got some salmon burgers and crab cakes for dinner. It's been a pretty good day, and it is STILL THUNDERING.

A Little More Than Summer...

Okay, I really like warm weather, but yesterday was a little overkill. It got up to 93 degrees yesterday. Everyone was dying in school, but not people in Ms. O's room! Her room used to be a computer lab, so it has air conditioning!!! YAY!

Hannah Montana and Hannah!

Today I went to see Hannah Montana: The Movie with Hannah and Emma. It was a cute movie, and I really liked it. I liked it because Hannah Montana reveals her secret to the people of Tennessee, it was a good plot, and the Hoedown Throwdown is really catchy. (Oh, and the guy who plays Travis [Lucas Till] is really cute!!) I had to restrain Hannah from eating all her popcorn during the previews! Afterwards, we had lunch at Cucina Cucina! and it was really good; Hannah and Emma split a Margherita Pizza and I had one whole Margherite pizza. It was really good. Then we came home and played catch and volleyball, and biked (or in Emma's case, ran) to the duck pond and climbed trees. It was a lot of fun. Did I mention it was REALLY nice today? I wore a tank top, shorts, and flip-flops to the movie! It was like 72 degrees! (Yes, Farenheit, I think you would die if it was 72 degrees Celsius.)

What Happened to our Weather?

You know how I have been raving about the really great weather for a while? (Or at least in a few posts.) Well, today was rainy and yucky, and just overall a BLEAH day. Partly because of the weather, and partly because we did some depressing stuff in school today. In LA/SS, we did the Cold War and how everyone was stockpiling nukes. That wasn't really depressing, so to speak, but still...BAD. Then in Science we watched this video called "Asteroids: Deadly Impact" which was about geologists who study asteroids. We found out about this asteroid that crashed into Jupiter in 1994. If a meteroite ever hit Earth, it would feel like we were in an oven set to Broil, then the sky would turn BLACK. Then we would all be wiped off the face of the Earth, just like the dinosaurs! FUN! Then in Health, we learned about drugs and alcohol and how people with way too much time on their hands make PCP to look like Flinstones Vitamins. And then we learned about how alcohol affects the brain, and the fact that a lot of people die from overdoses, and that drinking too much alcohol can turn your eyes yellow and other HAPPY stuff like that.

NOW GO HOME AND THIK HAPPY THOUGHTS BECAUSE I HAVE OVERWHELMED YOU WITH DEPRESSING-NESS.

Bye!

Counting Down!!

28 Days of School Left! I cannot believe there is less than a month left! I am like FREAKING OUT, but when it gets to June, I'll be REALLY FREAKING OUT! EEEP I AM SO EXCITED THAT IT IS ALMOST SUMMER! It was even a little summery today; it's supposed to be 68 degrees today. It's getting there...

Last Dance of the Year! (And More)

Last night was the last dance of the year. It was pretty fun, but I think the ones before it were better. The theme was "Stayin' Alive/70's/Retro." They played "Funky Town," and that was fun to dance to, because you could do disco moves. And then they played all the old favorites like "The Macarena," "Cha-Cha Slide," "Let it Rock," "Low," "Don't Stop Believin," "Jump On It," and "Disturbia." Afterwards I went over to Hannah (from Chicken News') house, and we had a lot of fun playing Cranium and Whoonu. Emma showed us this strange routine on the rope swing. I think she was in denial that Hannah could actually do it. Hannah and I stayed up until exactly 1:01 am, but Lilia and Kate fell asleep long before that.

After THAT, we went to a college softball game. It was a lot of fun, but the weather was kind of funky. It would get all sunny, then it would get cloudy and windy. It was odd. The home team won 11-3. It was Senior Night, and there were 7 seniors. It was a really nice little ceremony thingy afterwards. All the seniors got flowers and leis. All the other players were crying.

Oh My Golly Good Gosh!!

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT IS ALREADY MAY 1ST. ONLY 33 DAYS OF SCHOOL LEFT!!!!! OMG!!! Today it was a whopping 69 degrees Farenheit and I wore shorts and flip-flops to school. I cannot see a single cloud in the sky and I didn't even BRING a sweatshirt to school. Though, granted, it was very chilly at tennis this morning, outside, but I was very happy in the long run that I wore shorts. It's almost like summer and it is getting very close!!!

ONLY 33 DAYS LEFT OF SCHOOL!!!! :-)

I've got a funny feeling we're not in winter anymore...

Today was so far the WARMEST DAY OF THE YEAR coming in at 58 degrees and sunny, with only a few clouds. I know to like, Arizonians, that's the coldest day of winter, but here, that's the WARMEST DAY OF SPRING! YIPPEE!! My dad and I got to fit in the first playing of volleyball in the backyard today with no sore forearms from the cold or the too-hard-ball. I am SO excited because tomorrow it's supposed to be pushing 70 degrees!!! It'll be like summer!!! Sure, the lakes won't be warm, and we'll still have school the next day, and we won't be on vacation, and we'll still have homework, and we won't be tan, and we still won't be able to sleepovers on Wednesdays, and yaddah yaddah yaddah.

Crazy Climate at Cannon Beach

On Saturday morning, my mom, dad, cousin, and I all drove down to Cannon Beach in Oregon for Spring Break! It was so much fun.

We stayed at this AH-mazing hotel called the Surfsand. It had SO many ammenities it was CRAZY. It had Tempurpedic mattresses, a flat-screen TV, a complimentary bucket with s'mores fixings, a heated pool, a sauna, complimentary board games and DVDs that you could rent from the front desk, complimentary ice cream cones on Saturdays, a HUGE bowl of saltwater taffy free for the taking, a jar of chocolate chip cookies sitting on the front desk with a bucket of milk next to it, a view of Haystack Rock:a jacuzzi tub, a walk-in shower, and a TV in the BATHROOM! (Ring any bells, Maki?) It was the coolest hotel EVER!!!

The weather was kind of weird. The first day, it was raining HARD and sideways. The next day, it was HAILING sideways. It would hit you on the back of the legs and it HURT. Our pants were literally DRIPPING. The next day it was actually sunny!

We got a kite on Sunday and flew it on Sunday and Monday.
(is that not the coolest kite you've ever seen?)
It was great. We also went to the "Marine Garden" and saw starfish, and mussels, and sea sponges and all this other cool stuff. Our quest was to find a whole sand dollar, but no success. Too bad. We went to this awesome candy store with these HUGE barrels of saltwater taffy. There was watermelon, orange, chocolate, peanut butter and jelly, blue raspberry, even butter (but...EW!) I got this awesome hat and shirt. On the way home, we had lunch at Nike! My mom's good friend works for Nike in the Mia Hamm building, so we had lunch there. The cafeteria was AWESOME! It had burgers, soup, salad, stir-fry, all sorts of drinks, even a frozen yogurt machine! We also got to go to the Nike employee store, where everything is half-price what it would be at a regular Nike Store. I got these AH-mazing shoes:

We also saw this funny sign.

Crazy March

Today we have had the craziest weather EVER!! When I woke up, it was snowing HUGE, fat flakes. It continued like that until about 9:30. For a while it was cloudy, but no precipatation. Then it started POURING until about 12:00. Then it was sunny for about half an hour. Then it started to get really windy for about 15 minutes. Next it started HAILING like nobody's business. It was like, defeaning. Now it's blue sky, and from my window, I can see ZERO clouds.

What's next, heat wave???
